ABOUT THE LPPL CONFERENCE SERIES
With our series of conferences on linguistic pragmatics, we aim to establish a new platform in the Czech Republic for presenting and discussing projects that broadly focus on linguistic action in social contexts. One of our key objectives is to foster new connections in the field of pragmatic research.
The first LPPL conference, held in 2024 in Pilsen, sought to explore the pragmatic perspectives and approaches currently pursued in the Czech Republic and neighboring regions. For this reason, the thematic scope was intentionally kept broad.
For LPPL 2025, we invite participants to Liberec, where the focus will be on linguistic pragmatics and didactics.
We firmly believe that multilingualism and linguistic diversity can yield valuable insights in academic discourse. To facilitate a truly multilingual exchange, the conference languages will be Czech, German, Slovak, and English. However, to ensure that multilingualism does not hinder discussion, we ask that presentation slides be in a different language than the spoken presentation—ideally including English (e.g., a talk in German with slides in English). In this spirit, we welcome not only linguists specializing in German studies but also scholars from other philologies and related disciplines.
Following the conference, we plan to publish selected contributions based on the presentations given in Liberec and Pilsen.
